Week of 12/9/13 to 12/13/13

MONDAY
Students will be placed in collaborative groups. Each group will create a design for the final exam review.  Iron-on transfer project is the shirt printing for IGD. Career activities for career booklet will continue for all classes. Each class will create the booklet using InDesign-magazine style.

TUESDAY
Student will prepare screens for printing. Each one will translate the idea to the computer. Iron-on transfer project is underway. Each student will design for their transfer, and print the idea in reverse. Career activities for career booklet will continue for all classes. Each class will create a booklet using InDesign-magazine style.

WEDNESDAY
Collaborative groups will create a review powerpoint. Each group will present their idea to the teacher. Iron-on transfer project is underway. Each student will design for their transfer, and print the idea in reverse. Each Student will print the t-shirt and dry it to cure the ink.  Iron-on transfer and screen printing projects continue. Career activities for career booklet will continue.

Week of 12/2/13 to 12/6/13


MONDAY
Career booklet pages will be completed. These pages are about the following:

Student's education
Student's interpersonal skills
Student's academic skills
Student's Adobe / design skills
Student's ability to work on a team
Students will get a booklet making demo on finishing and binding. Iron-on transfer and screen printing projects continue


TUESDAY
Students write a resume and a cover letter. Students create a reference page which includes at least three references. Comb binding demo will show students how to bind their career booklet. Iron-on transfer and screen printing projects continue


WEDNESDAY
We have a guest speaker to coincide with the Career unit. A representative from the Art Institute of Atlanta will be speaking to to all graphic design students. In addition, he will talk about & review portfolios. He will offer tips and information on post-secondary opportuinties in many different creative creative fields.


THURSDAY
Students continue the pages of their career booklet. All sheets are prepared and bound together, including cover page and protective cover. Iron-on transfer and screen-printing projects continue.


FRIDAY
Final Project is introduced. Students will select a project from the ones completed this semester. After they select the project, they will plan and sketch their ideas for the project. Students will complete the project as part of their final (performance) assessment for the course.

Students complete career inventory to see where their career interests lie. Screen printing continues for GDP students. Week of 10/14/13 to 10/18/13



MONDAY:
Students are working with Adobe Illustrator toward the business set and extended business set project. Students must print and create a display for their business. It is required that the there be a display title for the project and all of the specific documents must be identified by label.. This information will ensure that the student has completed all of the required documents. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to product / package design.

TUESDAY:
Students are working on the business set and extended business set project. Students must print and create a display for their business. Students who are finished will go to product / package design. Common Assessment remediation will be included within the lesson activities.



WEDNESDAY:
Students will learn about the elements and principles of design. Students will be given several different reading and writing activities related to the elements and principles. In addition, students will have to answer questions regarding key terms and concepts of composition and design. Additional Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Fantasy 2.0 will be discussed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.


THURSDAY:
Students are refining the business set project. In addition, typography is covered more in-depth, including rules, typefaces, and anatomy of type. Diagram assignment is given to students on typography. Additional Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Fantasy 2.0 will be planned as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.


FRIDAY:
Students are working on the display for business set. Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students will reflect on a topic related to graphic design in writing. Common Assessment retest / make-up opportunity will be offered. Fantasy 2.0 will be completed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines. Student  CD projects are on display in the display case next to the main office. The extended business set's theme is on one of the following: Band, Daycare, Club, Restaurant, or Travel agency. The business set includes the following documents:

Students will learn how to use the elements in order to apply the principles. The art history composite is on going. The re-branding project and the Screen Printing projects are on going for the GDP classes.

Students will use graphic organizers to take notes on the elements and principles of design
These notes will be used to complete a summative assessment. Re-branding projects are
due, and students will present re-branding presentations to the instructor. Elements and Principles open notes test is Friday. GDP Students are coating screens and exposing screens. IGD Students are finishing the art history projects.

Students are finishing the CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design projects. Students must note which paintings and artists they are using in their design. It is required that the artist of each part of the composite are labeled as such on every layer. This information will be needed for the upcoming critique. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to business set.


TUESDAY:
Students will learn more about the elements and principles of design.  This includes color theory and the psychology of color. The assessment on the elements and principles will be given on friday. Projects due include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design.

WEDNESDAY:
Students will learn more how to apply the elements and principles of design.Students will learn how to use the elements and principles to critique and verbally describe art and design.Projects due include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design.

The elements and principles will be the basis for the critique. The assessment on the elements and principles will be given on friday.
