Week of 9/30/13 to 10/02/13

MONDAY:
Students will critique the CD project. The elements and principles of design will be covered in detail including, color theory, color harmonies and the psychology of color. The art history composite is on going. The re-branding project and the Screen Printing projects are on going for the GDP classes.


TUESDAY:
Students will create a creative color wheel. Warm and cool colors along with color harmonies will be discussed. GDP classes will coat screens and see an exposure demo. The art history composite is on going. The re-branding project and the Screen Printing projects are on going for the GDP classes.


WEDNESDAY:
Students will learn how to use the elements in order to apply the principles. The art history composite is on going. The re-branding project and the Screen Printing projects are on going for the GDP classes.

Week of 9/23/13 to 9/27/13



MONDAY:
Students are finishing the CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design projects. Students must note which paintings and artists they are using in their design. It is required that the artist of each part of the composite are labeled as such on every layer. This information will be needed for the upcoming critique. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to business set.


TUESDAY:
Students will learn more about the elements and principles of design.  This includes color theory and the psychology of color. The assessment on the elements and principles will be given on friday. Projects due include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design.

WEDNESDAY:
Students will learn more how to apply the elements and principles of design.Students will learn how to use the elements and principles to critique and verbally describe art and design.Projects due include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design.

THURSDAY:
Students will critique each other's projects, and they will do a self reflection as well. The elements and principles will be the basis for the critique. The assessment on the elements and principles will be given on friday. Projects due include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design.

FRIDAY:
The assessment on the elements and principles will be given on friday. Projects due include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design. Homecoming door decoration will be used as an enrichment activity.

9/16/13 to 9/20/13


MONDAY:
Students will learn about trade customs and copyright laws. Vocabulary and key concepts will be covered including copyright infringement and ethics for the Graphic designer. Ongoing Projects include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design.



TUESDAY:
Students are finishing the CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design projects. Students must note which paintings and artists they are using in their design. Students are working the snowman illustration to learn how to use basic tools in Illustrator. In addition, typography is studied more in depth, including rules, typefaces, and anatomy of type. Study guides are given to students on safety and typography. Additional Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered.


FRIDAY:
Common Assessment is given today. The parts covering safety and typography will be graded for credit. Ongoing projects include: CD, Re-branding, Art History Painting /Heritage composite and T-shirt design

Week of 9-9-13 to 9-13-13


MONDAY:
Students will learn to estimate Job Costs. This includes math and measurement to ensure accurate numbers and measurements on the job ticket. An assessment of measurement for job tickets will be given next week. Ongoing Projects include: Art History Painting and Heritage composite and T-shirt design.

Students will learn more about typography This includes typestyles, type alignment and type measurement to ensure accurate use of type in graphic designs. An assessment of measurement for typography will be given next week. Projects due include: Art History Painting and Black History / Heritage composite . T-shirt design is an ongoing Project.



THURSDAY:

Students will complete an activity to culminate the heritage composite. Students will explore notable  artists, including a critique and critical analysis. Typography concepts are ongoing, as students identify key terms.

Week of 9/3/13 to 9/6/13



MONDAY:
Labor Day (STUDENT HOLIDAY).

TUESDAY:
Students in GDP class will create T-shirt design. Students are working on the cd project. 
Students must print and create a display for their project. It is required that the there be a display  for the project. Adobe  skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to the next project.


WEDNESDAY:
Students will learn about typography. Students will be given several different reading and writing activities related to typography. In addition, students will have to answer questions regarding key terms and concepts of typography. Additional Adobe  skills pertaining to the  projects will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be also covered.Fantasy 2.0 will be discussed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.

THURSDAY:
Students are refining their projects. In addition, typography is covered more in-depth, including rules, typefaces, and anatomy of type. Diagram assignment is given to students on typography. Additional Adobe  skills  will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will also be covered. Fantasy 2.0 and 50th anniversary will be planned as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.

FRIDAY:
Adobe  skills pertaining to the  project will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students will reflect on a topic related to graphic design in writing. Safety Assessment will be given.  Fantasy 2.0 and 50th anniversary will be completed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines. Student DVD and CD projects will be on display in the display case next to the main office.
