Week of 1/27/13 to 2/1/13



MONDAY:
Students are working on dvd / cd designs. Students in advanced class will create T-shirt design. Students will be given a safety assessment on Friday. Those who do not meet the standards on the assessment will be given some remediation training, and  will have the opportunity to re-test.

TUESDAY:
Students in advanced class will create T-shirt design. Students are working on the dvd /cd project. 
Students must print and create a display for their project. It is required that the there be a display  for the project. Adobe  skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to the next project.

WEDNESDAY:
Students will learn about typography. Students will be given several different reading and writing activities related to typography. In addition, students will have to answer questions regarding key terms and concepts of typography. Additional Adobe  skills pertaining to the  projects will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be also covered. CTAE Expo will be discussed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.

THURSDAY:
Students are refining their projects. In addition, typography is covered more in-depth, including rules, typefaces, and anatomy of type. Diagram assignment is given to students on typography. Additional Adobe  skills  will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will also be covered. CTAE Expo will be planned as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.

FRIDAY:
Adobe  skills pertaining to the  project will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students will reflect on a topic related to graphic design in writing. Safety Assessment will be given. CTAE Expo will be completed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines. Student DVD and CD projects will be on display in the display case next to the main office.

MONDAY

TUESDAY
Graphic Design Students are creating a CD jewel case design:

1. Brainstorm for the name of the artist and album
2. Do thumbnail sketches
3. Do Comp sketches
4. Create front cover (be sure to use inches as the unit)
5. Create inside
6. Create back and sides
7. Put design together
8. Print design
9. Cut and fit into case
10. Prepare for display

Advanced Design Students are working on ideas for T-shirt design.
Design Production students are creating a DVD case design.

WEDNESDAY
Students are finishing the DVD and CD composite.  Adobe skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to the next project.

THURSDAY

Tonight is Open House.  PTSA meeting, Pinnacle Codes, and Selected perfomances.
Students are finishing the DVD and CD composite.  Adobe skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to the next project.

FRIDAY
Students are reviewing the assessment they took. This pre-test demonstrated what they already know about graphic design. Students are creating a powerpoint presentation on safety and health. A rubric will be used to assess their powerpoint projects.

Course Description:
Learn the basic principles required to solve graphic design problems. Using industry standard software and related programs, students will develop the ability and confidence to create appropriate and successful designs. Students will also use color effectively; use dominant and subordinate elements; use typography; and use production skills to make effective design layouts, which meet industry standards. Students may choose to work toward a Graphic Design Pathway.

  • Make up policy follows what is written in the Pebblebrook Student Handbook.
  • 10% is deducted for work received after the deadline. Please complete work on time!

Week of 1/14/13 to 1/18/13


MONDAY:
Students sketch for the DVD and CD Jewel case designs. Students will begin safety lesson. Students will respond to questions  written form and complete vocabulary on safety. Advanced students will create screen-printed t-shirt design.



TUESDAY:
Students are finishing the sketches. Students begin and or review Photoshop tools. It is required that the students have an understanding and grasp of Photoshop in order to complete the projects. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered for advanced students. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Common Assessment will be administered.



WEDNESDAY:
Students are applying Adobe skills. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered for advanced students. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Common Assessment will be graded and returned.





THURSDAY:
Students are refining ideas for their projects. In addition, layers are introduced, including effects, and techniques. Additional Adobe skills pertaining to the projects will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be applied. CTSO (SkillsUSA) enrichment opportunity for students who are interested. Reading assignment is given to students on safety and health.




FRIDAY:
Adobe skills pertaining to the  project will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Adobe tools and shortcut  will be introduced. Full Sail University presentation is re-scheduled for today.

Welcome Back week of 1/8/13 to 1/11/13

TUESDAY:
Welcome back and Happy New Year. This is a place for you to check frequently, so that you can be informed of happenings, assessments, projects, and other assignments. In  COUPLE days the course guide will be posted for your information. A hard copy will be given to those w/o internet access at home, or upon request by the student. Please read it carefully. Again, welcome back and I look forward to a very productive 2013 in Graphic Design.

WEDNESDAY:
Students begin unit 1 (The Printing industry) which includes vocabulary and class activities on the nature of the printing industry. EOP exam is discussed with Advanced students. CTSO (SkillsUSA) is also discussed with all classes. An meeting will be held on 1/15/12 to start up organization.

THURSDAY:
Students will continue unit 1(The Printing industry). Round robin group activity will be done on the chapter. Logo and Branding activities will also be done.

FRIDAY:
Graphic Arts Pre-test. Formative assessment on unit 1. First project will be discussed. Full Sail University will present to the class about post secondary opportunities in Design.
