Week of 8-25-14 to 8-29-14


MONDAY:Students in AGD class will create T-shirt design and a "live work assignment for a start up business. GDP Students are working collaborative project with the Salon class called "Sounds of Attraction" project.Students must develop and create a logo, flyer, judges cards and other promotional items for the  project. It is required that the there be a display  for the project. Adobe  skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to the next project.

TUESDAY:

Students will learn about the printing industry. Students will be given several different reading and writing activities related to typography. In addition, students will have to answer questions regarding key terms and concepts of typography. Additional Adobe  skills pertaining to the  projects will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be also covered.
Spring CTAE expo will be discussed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.




WEDNESDAY:

Students are refining their projects. In addition, typography is covered more in-depth, including rules, typefaces, and anatomy of type. Diagram assignment is given to students on typography. Additional Adobe  skills  will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will also be demonstrated. 
 GDP Students are working collaborative project with the Salon class called "Sounds of Attraction" project.
 


THURSDAY:


Students are refining their projects. In addition, typography is covered more in-depth, including rules, typefaces, and anatomy of type. FRIDAY:
Adobe  skills pertaining to the  project will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students will reflect on a topic related to graphic design in writing. Safety Assessment re-test wil be given.

Week of 8/18/14 to 8/22/14

MONDAY:
Students sketch for live work designs. Students will begin safety lesson. Students will respond to questions  written form and complete vocabulary on safety. Advanced students will create screen-printed t-shirt design. Students must score 100%  on safety assessment to to proceed next project.



TUESDAY:
Students are finishing the sketches. Students review Photoshop tools. It is required that the students have an understanding and grasp of Photoshop in order to complete the projects. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered for advanced students. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. 



WEDNESDAY:
Students are applying Adobe skills. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered for advanced students. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Common Assessment will be reviewed and returned.





THURSDAY:
Students are refining ideas for their projects. In addition, layers are introduced, including effects, and techniques. Additional Adobe skills pertaining to the projects will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be applied. CTSO (SkillsUSA) enrichment opportunity for students who are interested. Reading assignment is given to students on safety and health.




FRIDAY:
Adobe skills pertaining to the  project will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Adobe tools and shortcut  will be introduced. Safety assessment is given. Students must score 100% to proceed to next project.

TUESDAY:Industry Trends:
  • How has graphic design changed over the last 25 years
  • Who were the 10 most influential people for the graphic design industry
  • Why is it important to learn about graphic design history

  • Community "live work" Mark Kay flyer and Berry School of Cosmetology Logo
WEDNESDAY:
  • Pre-assessment on how much students know about graphic design 
  • Type and letterforms
  • Artists and key people
  • Famous logos
THURSDAY:
  • GDP-Students will learn about trade customs and copyright laws. Vocabulary and key concepts will be covered including copyright infringement and ethics for the Graphic designer. 
  • AGD-are working on "live work" and principles of screen  printing. Ongoing Projects include: Business set,  and T-shirt design.
FRIDAY:
