Week of 2/24/14 to 2/28/14

MONDAY:

Students are working with Adobe Illustrator toward the business set and extended business set project. Students must print and create a display for their business. It is required that the there be a display title for the project and all of the specific documents must be identified by label.. This information will ensure that the student has completed all of the required documents. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to product / package design.

TUESDAY:

Students are working on the business set and extended business set project. Students must print and create a display for their business. Students who are finished will go to product / package design. Common Assessment remediation / practice will be included within the lesson activities.

WEDNESDAY:

Students will learn about the elements and principles of design. Students will be given several different reading and writing activities related to the elements and principles. In addition, students will have to answer questions regarding key terms and concepts of composition and design. Additional Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. CTAE Expo will be discussed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.

THURSDAY:

Students are refining the business set project. In addition, typography is covered more in-depth, including rules, typefaces, and anatomy of type. Diagram assignment is given to students on typography. Additional Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. CTAE Expo will be planned as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines.

FRIDAY:

Students are working on the display for business set. Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students will reflect on a topic related to graphic design in writing. Common Assessment will be given. CTAE Expo  will be completed as an enrichment opportunity for students who finish projects ahead of the deadlines. Student  CD projects are on display in the display case next to the main office. The extended business set's theme is on one of the following: Band, Daycare, Club, Restaurant, or Travel agency. The business set includes the following documents:

IGD & GDP Students are working on The Origins of Type and Typography. They will review careers in Graphic Design that are related to typesetting and copy editing. AGD students are finishing Beauty Sleep designs and beginning the screen printing project. 

THURS.

Graphic Design Students are creating a CD jewel case design. The following is a list of steps for the CD project:

1. Brainstorm for the name of the artist and album
2. Do thumbnail sketches
3. Do Comp sketches
4. Create front cover (be sure to use inches as the unit)
5. Create inside
6. Create back and sides
7. Put design together
8. Print design
9. Cut and fit into case
10. Prepare for display

AGD Students are working on ideas for T-shirt design. GDP is presenting the advanced business set.

Students are working on the CD composite Project.  Adobe skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. Students who are finished will go to the next project.Common assessment given to all classes on safety and health. AGD Students are working on ideas for T-shirt design, and they will prepare screens for use. GDP is presenting the advanced business set.

Week of 2/3/14 to 2/7/14

MONDAY:

GDP-Students will learn about trade customs and copyright laws. Vocabulary and key concepts will be covered including copyright infringement and ethics for the Graphic designer. IGD -students are covering safety and health. AGD-are working on "live work" and principles of screen  printing. Ongoing Projects include: CD, Business set, live work and T-shirt design.

TUESDAY:

IGD-Students are working on the CD; GDP- students are working on business specific sets  and AGD students are working on the T-shirt design projects. Students must note which techniques and styles they are using in their designs. It is required the design be displayed either in print. This information will be needed for the upcoming critique. Adobe Illustrator skills will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered. 

WEDNESDAY:

ALL-Students will learn more about the elements and principles of design.  This includes color theory and the psychology of color. The first common assessment will cover safety and typography. Several warm-ups and closing will be given to reinforce those concepts to help students prepare for assessments. 

THURSDAY:
IGD-Students are working on the CD; GDP- students are working on business specific sets  and AGD students are working on the T-shirt design projects. Students must note which techniques and styles they are using in their designs. It is required the design be displayed either in print. This information will be needed for the upcoming critique. FRIDAY:

GDP-Students are working the snowman illustration to learn how to use  tools in Illustrator. In addition,the elements and principles are studied more in depth, including rules, color and composition. Additional Adobe Illustrator skills pertaining to the business set project will be covered will be covered. Tips, tools and techniques will be covered.IGD-Students are working on the CD and AGD students are working on the T-shirt design projects
